This catalog for the Paul Robeson Gallery at Rutgers University was our first major project that was printed all digitally. This new technology has really improved and is a perfect for short run printing—even for art catalogs like this where color reproduction is critical. The catalog measures 8 x 10 inches and is 54-pages with perfect binding.
The color reproduction is remarkable as is the art of New Jersey artist Allison Weld. Her gestural, expressive artwork painted in vibrant colors and her compositions of objects are both exciting and intriguing. We've captured some of these qualities in the design of the book by incorporating the artwork in both the typography of the titles and initial caps and by using her color pallet throughout. This is a departure from the usual art show catalogs that simply use a piece of the artist's work as the cover art. The curator of the Robeson Gallery strives to create show catalogs that are as inspiring as the artists' work. We have been motivated by her ideas and we are thrilled to be a part of the creation of these books.
